Soundwave Art™ was co-founded by Mike LaTour and Justin in 2012 with a simple idea: meaningful sounds deserve to be seen, shared, and remembered.
What began as an experiment between two friends evolved into a new way to transform voices, songs, wedding vows, and personal recordings into lasting works of art and jewelry. Today, Soundwave Art™ helps people around the world preserve meaningful moments through custom keepsakes created from sound.
That simple question became the foundation of Soundwave Art™.
Hi, I'm Mike LaTour, co-founder and now sole owner of Soundwave Art™. For well over a decade, I've had the privilege of helping people preserve the voices, songs, and memories that matter most.
Before Soundwave Art™, my background was in music, managing a chain of independent record stores, programming a radio station, managing bands, and booking concerts. Sound has always been a central part of my life, so creating something visual from audio felt like a natural next step.
In the summer of 2012, my friend and co-founder Justin asked a simple question: "Do you think it would be possible to turn sound into a piece of art?" What began as an experiment between two friends evolved into a new way to preserve personal recordings as meaningful keepsakes.
While Justin eventually moved on to pursue other opportunities, we remain friends to this day. Today, more than a decade later, I continue to build on that original vision, helping people preserve meaningful moments through custom artwork, wood displays, and jewelry created from sound.
Bringing Sound to Life
From the beginning, I wanted every piece to be more than something you simply look at. I wanted people to be able to experience the memory behind it.
That led to the Soundwave Art™ app, which allows select artwork to play the original recording or video using image recognition and augmented reality.

It became clear to me that jewelry would be a perfect addition, a truly meaningful piece that you can cary close to your heart.
Each pendant is made from ironwood and stainless steel, engraved with your personal Soundwave, and embedded with and NFC chip so the recording behind it can be accessed with a compatible phone.
