Remember when open shelving in the kitchen was a big thing? Jewel Tones

Fall and winter saw a surge in the popularity of the use of jewel tones in decorating, and this year’s warmer seasons seem to be following suit. Perfect Imperfection

“Perfect Imperfection,” conveniently enough, is a trend that’s once again enjoying its day in the sun. It’s a departure from magazine-ready, “a place for everything and everything in its place” style in favor of a more lived-in vibe. The Japanese mastered the look in the 15th century, referring to it as “wabi-sabi,” which basically means to embrace the effects of time on things. Furniture and décor that shows signs of wear or are “perfectly imperfect” are preferred over new items in pristine condition. Think distressed rugs, messy beds, handmade pieces, and wrinkly linens. How’s that for earth-friendly and budget-friendly, not to mention easy to pull off?
